Are you someone that writes his or her own training programs? If so, great, but more important, make sure you know what you doing and you are not just spinning your wheels. When you are writing your programs, what is the first thing that you put down on paper? Read the rest of this entry »

I love Old School things…Playing Arcade Donkey Kong, Listening to the hard beats of 80’s/90’s rap legends -’Public Enemy’, watching ‘Happy Days’ Re-runs, spotting Farrah Fawcett iron-on T-Shirts, and wishing acid wash jeans would make a comeback. OK, maybe not the last thing, but the rest, are old school at its best.
I get asked about HIIT training almost daily. What is it, and how do you do it. When I tell people the basics of it, I usually get the “huh? That’s it?” type of look. Read the rest of this entry »

Years ago when I was in college, I read about everything I could get my hands on that had to do with self-improvement. Yea, I admit it; I was a Tony Robbins, and Steven Covey junkie. I know I am not the only one either. Many of you out there probably have read the same self-help books as I have. Even today, I still read their material for reminders. I make no apologies for reading and studying the exceptional minds of these gurus. They are great people that have done great things.
This is not about Self Improvement gurus however. Read the rest of this entry »

The title of this post was not only an attention getter, but also a lesson for those of you that are living the healthy lifestyle. I did not mention UNHEALTHY lifestyle; rather I said the healthy lifestyle. I make that distinction because I witnessed a client of mine last night learning all about how a night of hot wings and beer could destroy a once near perfect functioning body. Viper: In case some of you are wondering who the best is they are up here on this plaque. [turns to Maverick]
Viper: Do you think your name will be on that plaque?
Maverick: Yes sir. Viper: That’s pretty arrogant, considering the company you’re in.
Maverick: Yes sir.
Viper: I like that in a pilot.
So WHO is the best?? In the world of fitness, performance training, and sports medicine, it can get confusing on who to listen to these days. There are numerous “experts” and even more “professionals” out there. I use quotes around those titles because it does not take much these days to be able to call yourself an expert or professional in the field. Too many weekend certifications, lack of regulations and an internet explosion can make anyone famous and relevant almost over night. So just, WHO is the best out there anyway?
